Evaluating in a Community Setting
Based on a Participatory Action Research paradigm, we’ll explore ways to ‘build reflection into’ the processes we engage in as workers and program coordinators and managers. And yes, we will talk about the mysterious ‘evidence’ thing everyone now seems to talk about.

About the event
There once was a time – not that long ago – when ‘evaluation’ really felt like the one thing people working in the community services ‘sector’ all agreed on… we all wanted to learn from our mistakes and from the few good things we did… KPIs, monitoring and the expectation of ‘outcomes’ seem to have made deep reflection about ‘what worked’ and ‘what didn’t’ and ‘why it did or didn’t’ superfluous and certainly not funded’… This workshop offers an attempt to stem and reverse the tide… or at least to inspire participants to try… Based on a Participatory Action Research paradigm, we’ll explore ways to ‘build reflection into’ the processes we engage in as workers and program coordinators and managers. And yes, we will talk about the mysterious ‘evidence’ thing everyone now seems to talk about…
